About the Event
Recognizing the Other Child is an interactive, trauma-informed lecture and book signing designed to help foster parents, guardians, and caregivers recognize and support children who feel unseen due to family trauma. This training equips participants with tools to identify the "Other Child" (O.C.), a term describing siblings of child survivors or children with unmet emotional needs.
Attendees will learn:
✔ How to recognize signs of invisible trauma in children and its impact on emotional and behavioral development.
✔ Strategies for creating emotionally safe environments that support resilience in trauma-affected children.
✔ Self-care practices for caregivers to sustain their emotional well-being while fostering a trauma-informed home.
The training integrates lived experience expertise strategies and proven trauma-informed approaches to ensure real-world applicability.
